My Ideal Parasite Cleanse schedule

10/30/2017

I am beginning a 100+ day cleanse starting November 1st.  After overcoming a serious parasitic infection that I think is completely cleared, but ...
I would like to do a comprehensive program to ensure that is the case.  Plus I can help others by providing this information by providing a template.

During Phase 1 - the Full Moon Phase, I will be doing a different herbal blend than Phase 2 for Month 1 and will switch them for Month 2.  More to follow.

MY PARASITE CLEANSE – HOW I HAD SUCCESS

9/5/2017

When dealing with my parasitic infection, I used various over the counter herbal remedies that truly were ineffective despite the fact that they cost about $30 - $70 a month.

Even though these kits may have some benefit (I used along with a strict anti-parasitic diet and used other supplements and still found these kits to be ineffective), without addressing other aspects of one's life is like trying to heat your house in the winter by turning on the furnace and leaving the front door open.  It will costs you lots of money, overwork your furnace, and not get your house warm.

I found success by:
  1. Making every meal be anti-parasitic (that is, copious amounts of fresh garlic, pungent spices, hot sauce, etc. along with other anti-parasitic foods) ... see my blog and YouTube videos on anti-parasitic foods.  I hated eating some of the foods that I had to force down like raw sliced garlic before bed and the ghost pepper (and other hot peppers) that I added to my smoothies that brought tears to my eyes, made my nose run, and my ears burn).
  2. Not eating ANY foods that feed parasites ... no sugar, no fried foods, no processed foods, etc. ...  see my blog and YouTube videos on these foods.
  3. Using anti-parasitic herbs three (3) times a day on an empty stomach as directed by an herbalist (I recommend learning basic herbalism, so you can take control of your health.  I serve as my own herbalist.  Plus making tinctures is SUPER EASY and will save you a lot of money) ...  see my blog and YouTube videos on anti-parasitic herbs.
  4. Drinking herbal teas that are anti-parasitic and/or immune boosting throughout the day.
  5. Using supplements like food-grade diatomaceous earth, healing clays, and activated charcoal.
  6. ENZYMES … I could have never had success without taking proteolytic and other digestive enzymes on an empty stomach in the morning and at night.
  7. Using various protocols (e.g., turpentine, jaggery & ajwain (carom seeds), raw garlic at night with raw honey & Ceylon cinnamon, etc.) to mix it up.  This is important, because there are parasites that live in other parts of the body than the intestinal tract.  Parasites can also be in various stages of growth.  Mixing it up helped address various types of parasites that I may have also been infected.
  8. Keeping my colon clean ... see my BLOG on laxatives, enemas, and colon support.
  9. Getting adequate rest.
  10. Sweating (e.g., going outside on hot day, exercising (though that is not easy when trying to heal from parasites), saunas, hot baths, hot yoga, etc.).
  11. Hot baths with any of the following: herbs, apple cider vinegar, Borax, hydrogen peroxide, Epsom salts, essential oils, etc.
  12. Stress reduction (i.e., avoiding negative people, turning off the TV, etc.)
  13. Limiting exposures to parasites while trying to treat.
  • Properly cleaning fruits & vegetables.
  • Avoiding contact with animals.
  • Drinking clean water (distilled is best).
  • Not swimming in swimming pools (chlorine does NOT kill all parasitic cysts).
  • Not eating ANY mammal meat, while doing treatment (I no longer eat mammals at all).
  • NOT eating out during treatment.
  • AVOIDING salad bars and buffets as much as possible.  They are not safe.
  • Properly sterilizing cutting boards on a regular basis.
  • Washing hands thoroughly and often.

Be grateful.  Be thankful.  Smile.  You are loved.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to reduce costs associated with treating a possible parasitic infection:
  • In my opinion, a stool test is a waste of money and time.
  1. Most tests are false negatives.
  2. There are also parasites that live in the blood and the organs that will never be detected in the stool.
  3. Certain parasites may not be shedding or releasing eggs during the three days that you are collecting your stool.
  4. Collecting your stool is unsanitary.
  • Find a few friends and/or family members to do a parasite cleanse with you.  You can buy herbs in bulk and split amongst you.
  • Make your own tinctures.
  • Forage for wild plants in your area that are naturally anti-parasitic.
  • Take your cleanse seriously and do not leave the front door open in the middle of winter.  Be efficient and be effective.

MY PARASITE CLEANSE – SUMMARY

8/30/2017

DISCLAIMER:  This is not medical advice, please see your health care provider.

This is how I approached creating my parasite cleanses:
  • I would have liked to have consulted with a qualified healthcare provider that is knowledgeable about parasites and natural living for guidance, but I have yet to find one.
  • When choosing parasite cleanse products, I sourced from reputable companies, tried to work with a local herbalist (but he knew less about anti-parasitic protocols than I did at that point, so I was on my own), and created a combination of anti-parasitic herbs that worked for me.
  • Drank plenty of fresh filtered water (about 64 ounces daily), especially with fresh lemon & cayenne pepper.
  • Consumed anti-parasitic foods, spices, and herbs at all meals.
  • Ate foods that support my liver, my immune system, and my overall health (e.g., crucifers (such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, endive and radicchio), bitter greens, sprouted seeds, & sprouted nuts.
  • Consumed foods that have healthy fats like olives, avocados, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, and cold water wild caught fish.  I avoid oils, except small amounts of coconut oil.
  • Kept high allergen foods, such as dairy and wheat products to a bare minimum (in the beginning, there was no gluten in my diet at all, as I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance and likely Celiac.  NOTE: Parasitic infections have the same symptoms as Celiac and cause the same health complications. After treatment, all symptoms of Celiac and dairy intolerances "miraculously" went away.)
  • Eliminated black tea, coffee, soda, and alcoholic beverages.  I consume organic black tea and organic coffee when not doing my cleanses.  I do not drink soda or alcoholic beverages at all.
  • Eliminated added sugar, refined flour, processed foods, and fried foods.  I try to avoid these at all times.  They are not health promoting.  I use maple syrup, raw honey, organic blackstrap unsulphered molasses (see my blog on molasses for more information), coconut sugar, or organic stevia, when not doing a cleanse.
  • Eliminated skin care products with ingredients that are toxic.  I use natural products, often making my own.
  • Used natural cleaning products like baking soda, vinegar, borax, and essential oils.
  • Got adequate rest.
  • Got prepared in advance.
  • I don’t eat mammals.  Pork is the worst.  Freezing and/or cooking to a “safe” temperature may not kill all parasitic eggs, cysts, and worms in pig meat.  I used to eat red meat medium rare (or rarer).  Since beef tapeworms can be acquired by undercooked beef, I avoid.  No thanks.  Plus I rose up and don’t want to eat mammals again.
  • I don’t eat raw fish … ever.  I did it once and got infected with parasites!

Peace & love!

DISCLAIMER:  This is not medical advice, please see your health care provider.

This is what I use as my foundation for my active days of my parasite cleanse:

Anti-Parasitic Herbs and Supplements:
  • Wormwood¹, Black Walnut, and Clove tincture ... either individually or as a blend (depends on what I have on hand) ... 3 times a day on an empty stomach.
    • ¹I sometimes use Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and other times I use Sweet Wormwood (Artemisia annua).
  • Olive Leaf tincture (30 drops) & Oregano Oil (1-3 drops) ... 2-3 times a day
  • Wormwood & Pau d’Arco tea: I use one teaspoon of dried wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and one teaspoon of dried Pau d'Arco to make about 8 ounces of tea.  I drink 2-3 ounces, 3-4 times a day in between meals.
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) ... 10 drops ... 2-3 times a day.
Foods:
  • Eating anti-parasitic foods and spices at all meals that suit taste and also focus on seasonal foods (right now I am consuming lots of summer squash & cucumbers, as they are in season, but would not be eating those during a cleanse in March).
  • Avoiding completely all foods listed in my blog on Anti-Parasitic Foods and Foods to Avoid.  I am also avoiding cacao, roasted nuts, and peanut butter during this cleanse.
    • Cacao can be hard on the adrenals and can be addictive.
    • Raw, sprouted nuts are healthier than roasted nuts.
    • Peanuts are known to have mold issues.
  Supporting Herbs:
  • Using immune boosting tinctures of Echinacea & Goldenseal ... both of which are anti-parasitic & anti-fungal as well ...  3 times a day on an empty stomach.
  • Using Liver supporting herbs (milk thistle, burdock, dandelion, chicory, etc.) - tinctures, teas, and foods.
  Detoxification:
  • Detoxification items, including Diatomaceous Earth, Bentonite Clay, Activated Charcoal, Apple Cider Vinegar, Spirulina, Chlorella, Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice in Water, Wheat Grass, Broccoli Sprouts and Other Sprouts, Beet Juice Powder or freshly juiced Beets (preferred), Fresh Cilantro & Parsley
  • Detoxification must include a means to sweat like from exercise, going outside on a hot day, hot yoga, sauna (infrared, preferred).
  • Hot baths (Epsom salts, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, herbs, etc.)
  • Foot Baths (see Hot Baths)
  • Coffee Enemas, Baking Soda Enemas, Wheatgrass Enemas
  • Oil Pulling
Miscellaneous - Lymphatic Support:
  • Dry Brushing
  • Jumping ... I do 100+ jumping jacks every day.
Rest & Relaxation:
  • Adequate rest and sleep
  • Walking, especially in nature
  • Grounding ... Walking Barefoot
  • Getting SUN-light
  • Castor Oil Packs
  • Aromatherapy
  • Massage Therapy
  Essentials:
  • Smile
  • Relax
  • Be grateful!

NOTE: I use essential oils only topically and for aromatherapy.  I do not use internally.  I know that there are many people that recommend this practice of internal use, but I am not one of them.   In addition, there are some essential oil companies claim that this is healthy and safe to do, but I do not agree with that.  Internal use does not resonate with me.

Extra special thanks to you ... thank you ... words cannot express my gratitude!

More to be added  ... work in progress.

Peace and love!

MY PARASITE CLEANSE – BACKGROUND

8/5/2017

Since I know how easy it is to get infected with parasites and with only recently overcoming a very serious tapeworm infection, I do a parasite cleanse on a regular basis.  Some cleanses are a lighter version, but a few times a year I do a more serious cleanse.  This is one of those times.  I follow a very strict diet that focuses on all meals being based on a combination of anti-parasitic foods, spices, and herbs, as well as using various herbal remedies, supplements, and detoxification protocols.  In addition, I avoid all foods and drinks that will not benefit the cause.

One may encounter a video or other source that claims that doing [fill in the blank] will destroy/eliminate/kill ALL parasites in [fill in the blank] days/weeks/months, but that is (unfortunately) not true.  Not any one substance is effective against all parasites.  Plus the best plan of action varies from person-to-person depending on many factors, such as the type(s) of parasite, overall parasite load, health of individual prior to infection, current health of individual, length of time of infection, diet and lifestyle of individual, age of individual, etc.  In addition, some herbs and supplements are not the best option(s) for some people for various reasons, especially pregnant or lactating women, the elderly, children, those on other medications (whether they are pharmaceuticals, OTC, herbals, etc.), and thus, a one-size-fits-all plan does not exist.

To have a better chance of success in dealing with any infection, I know it is essential to strengthen the immune system.  This requires getting adequate rest, drinking plenty of liquids, and getting proper nutrition.   A weakened host will have a more difficult time overcoming any infection.

Most known parasite cleanse programs in books, online, or included with parasite cleanse kits provide widely varying time frames, but most have a plan that has a period of time actively engaged in the cleanse followed by a break, then repeating multiple times.  It is known that the eggs may take 8-14 weeks for some species of parasites to hatch.  Thus, for me I am going with a plan that will span 90 days with modifications after 30 days and 60 days.   A basic plan for me in an ideal world would be 10 days actively on followed by 5 days off (and then repeating) for a period of 90 days.  But I have to work and have other obligations that mean that modifications will be made to adjust around my schedule.  That said, I chose a time when I will be less busy than normal and only traveling for overnight stays rather than for extended periods for the first 30 days, as it takes some preparation to get things together.  I, of course, would rather be doing something else, but I know that this is extremely important and sacrifices will need to be made.  Another note is that I try to shop for needed foods during the break time as much as possible.

Preparation is key.  I plan and write out a basic meal plan with menu ideas.  I used to make charts with the days of the cleanse listed with the elements of the protocol, so I could check them off and not forget what I intended to do.  When I began overcoming my tapeworm infection, I was very ill and had a lot of die-off symptoms (more on that in a future post). Now I just write some notes on paper, when I outline the days that I will be doing the cleanse on a calendar.

I like focusing on foods and spices that are healthy and have anti-parasitic properties, because changing my diet doesn’t really cost any more than eating foods that are unhealthy and that are going to feed parasites.  In all actuality, it probably costs less for me, because I don’t eat out 99% of the time and that expense can really add up.  Yes, there is a learning curve to go from the Western Diet to a healthy diet.  I went from a girl who ate at McDonald’s on a VERY regular basis and thought that a home cooked meal involved Hamburger Helper and reheating leftovers in a microwave a little over a decade ago to a woman who makes her own kefir and sauerkraut; sprouts grains, legumes and nuts; makes home-made nut milks; and never uses a microwave. Surprisingly, I don’t miss fast food, processed foods, microwaves, or diet soft drinks at all.  Hence, there is hope for all of us.

Now onto my plan ...

I plan for this protocol to last for 10 days ON, 3 days OFF, 5 days ON, 3 days OFF, 10 days ON, 4 days OFF, 7 days ON, 7 days OFF, and then I will see how I feel to re-access.  The reason for the strange numbering is that I have some travel plans to work around.  As mentioned above, trying to maintain a full protocol while traveling is not easy and not worth the mental stress, if you can avoid it.  In the past, I had to do that a few times and got through it with some modifications.

A thing that must be noted is that during my break or OFF days, I will not be eating refined foods, until at least 30 days have passed. My OFF days will be where I will be eating some fruits and vegetables that I avoid during the cleanse and not be taking the anti-parasitic herbal tinctures, supplements, or doing any colon cleanses.  The OFF days are designed to be immune boosting, liver supporting, and relaxing.

It is important to give the body a rest from very strong herbs (some have toxicity concerns and are not for long-term use), as well as to keep the parasites guessing.  Parasites and other pathogens are very smart and hide very well.  That is why it is a good idea to bait them.  That is the rational of the Ayurvedic anti-parasitic protocol of using Jaggery followed by Carom Seeds (Trachyspermum ammi).  Jaggery is known as "gud" in Sanskrit and Carom is known as "Ajwain."  I will explain further when I add this mini-protocol to what I am currently doing during my ON days.  Right now, I am not eating any sweeteners, but will be using Jaggery and raw honey as a bait in future phases.  That is my plan, but for someone else using Jaggery and Carom at the beginning may be best.

Now before I begin I want to simplify things with some basic background information.
  • The meals that I ate are based on what I like to eat. I use the foods, herbs, and spices that are anti-parasitic, along with foods that are health supporting to support my immune system and body during the cleanse.  The meals must be as delicious as possible, else it would be very difficult to maintain.  That said, I would rather be eating chocolate, bananas, dried fruits, and drinking Kombucha right now, but that will not help me rid any parasites and other pathogens.  To get better faster, it takes discipline and motivation.  I also work on creating nice looking, as well as delicious tasting meals.  But there are times that I have to eat foods that are not easy to consume like lots of raw garlic, but I know that it is necessary for success over the long-term.
  • All foods are organic (not necessarily certified, if collected wild, from my neighbor's garden, or from a local farmer).
  • All unpeeled fresh fruits and vegetables that are eaten raw are soaked in water with food-grade hydrogen peroxide and/or Celtic salt added for a minimum of 60 minutes to kill any existing pathogens.
  • All eggs are pasture-raised and local.
  • All dairy that I consume is non-homogenized and organic.  I consume whole milk yogurt, goat milk from Pennsylvania from which I make homemade kefir, small amounts of 100% grass-fed raw milk cheeses, 100% grass-fed organic butter, etc.
  • All spices ae certified organic.
  • All herbal tinctures used are organic or wild-crafted.
  • All dried herbs are organic or wild crafted.
  • I drink various herbal teas throughout the cleanse that included peppermint, fennel seed, epazote, papaya leaf (I make a quart at a time and drink over 2 days), Gaia Herbs Cleanse & Detox, Natural Hope Herbals Black Walnut tea blend (I make a quart at a time and drink over 2 days), green tea, ginger,  burdock, Echinacea, etc.   All of these teas have benefits that assist during a cleanse.  I choose what I am needing at the time or what sounds good to me.
  • I use the hottest cayenne powder that I can find that is organic.  I currently have cayenne pepper that is rated as 75,000 Scoville heat units (SHU).  I like hot peppers, so for me, the hotter the better.

I eliminated these foods from my diet during all active (“ON”) phases of the parasite cleanse and for all breaks – that is, “OFF” days – during the first 30 days as well:
  • All chocolate and any foods containing cocoa or chocolate, even raw cacao.
  • All sugars and any foods containing sugar, including the natural sweeteners that I occasionally consume like raw honey, organic blackstrap molasses, and maple syrup. (I avoid refined sugars as a rule and always avoid high fructose corn syrup with no exceptions).
  • All dried fruits.
  • All gluten containing grains. I used to be gluten intolerant and was told that I likely had Celiac Disease.  After addressing my parasitic infection, my issues with gluten, dairy, etc. completely disappeared.  I had every symptom listed on Celiac.org's website.
  • All refined and processed foods, including rice cakes, pastas, cereals, granolas, breads, crackers, etc.
  • All deep-fried foods (I don't eat deep-fried foods 99.99% of the time anyway).
  • All oils, except small amounts of coconut oil.  (I avoid oils as much as possible and avoid soybean oil, Canola oil, corn oil, safflower oil, etc. always.  In my opinion, it is healthier to get your fats from whole foods.  This is definitely the case for flax seeds and hemp seeds, as the oils turn rancid quickly, thus making them very bad for one's health and I never consume them.  If anyone is interested in this topic, it can be covered in detail in the future.).
  • Peanuts and peanut butter.
  • I do not eat red meat, pork, sushi, or sashimi, but would eliminate them during a cleanse if I did, as they are major carriers of parasites and they are hard to digest.
  • Soy anything (soy is only healthy if fermented (e.g., natto, miso, tempeh).

To be continued with more details…
