A photo diary of fruits and vegetables known as The Dirty Dozen™. The Dirty Dozen™ is comprised based on an annual analysis by the Environmental Working Group [EWG] using data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration that determines that amount of pesticide residue that remains on produce after normal cleaning. The Dirty Dozen™ list the 12 top fresh fruits and vegetables with the highest loads of pesticide residues with #1 being the produce with the highest pesticide residue load. Pesticides are chemicals that kill pests that extend past destructive insects, worms, fungus, etc. Of course, some of these insects, bacteria, fungus, and microbes are bad, but some are good and beneficial for the environment and are beneficial for our health and the health of other living things. Think bees 🐝 and monarch butterflies 🦋 . In addition, these chemical injure or kill animals, as well as kill bacteria and microbes non-indiscriminately. From the EWG:
Pesticide residue on foods means that one is eating pesticides. Remember that the suffix -cide means "to kill." This begs the question: Are we killing more than the bugs outside? It would seem logical that we maybe killing our "bugs" on the inside of us as well. Good "bugs" live in our small and large intestines to keep us healthy by supporting our immune system, converting nutrients into bio-variable vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, as well as creating certain B vitamins. It would appear logical that pesticides will kill your gut flora. It is now known that our gut flora "interacts with both innate and adaptive immune system" and that "intestinal microflora has protective, metabolic, trophic and immunological functions" (F. Purchiaroni et al, 2013). The term pesticide is a generic term can include any of the following: herbicide, insecticides nematicide, molluscicide, piscicide, avicide, rodenticide, bactericide, insect repellent, animal repellent, antimicrobial, fungicide, disinfectant (antimicrobial), and sanitizer. EWG creates an annual Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce™ that lists the Dirty Dozen™ fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide residues, as well as the Clean Fifteen™, for which few, if any, residues were detected. Please see "ALL 48 FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WITH PESTICIDE RESIDUE DATA" at https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty_dozen_list.php. The 2017 list includes, in order: strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, celery, grapes, pears, cherries, tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, and potatoes. Based on my research and my intellect, GMOs [Genetically Modified Organisms or genetically Engineered (GE)] are not good for you and are not good for the environment. This is a logical conclusion that anyone with common sense can deduce. It does not take a degree. It just take a brain.
I do not care what "research" that one is able to produce that shows otherwise. I have a Master's degree in Research Methodology. I am aware that research studies that do not produce the desired results, do not see the light of day. I also have a very strong Mathematics and Statistics background, so I know how easy it is to manipulate the numbers. "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." - Popularized by Mark Twain Let's get logical and rational ... something that Modern Science hasn’t done is very long time. Many GMOs are designed to withstand treatment with high amounts of pesticides and fungicides. Adding unknown chemicals that are clearly poisons - that kill living things - to your food is not an intelligent thing to do. As you are presumably a living thing (though sometimes I wonder about many of you), this poison on the food will kill you ... likely slowly and painfully manifesting as any one of a myriad of modern diseases. Q.E.D. I have heard all of the arguments for GMO, but there is nothing to back these claims. It is 2018 and America is sick, fat, and tired. Isn't it time we realize that chemicals are a large part of this problem and adding more chemicals to this mess is not going to solve it? We need to take responsibility for our own health. If you can't look at the fact that the ones telling us that GMOs are safe and going to "save the world" are the ones that are and will continue to profit from GMOs and their health consequences, then I do not know what to say. Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Monsanto merged a few short years ago – STRANGE, don't you think? Monsanto told us Agent Orange was safe – WAKE UP. If these facts don’t raise any red flags for you, I suggest that it is already too late for you. Clearly the poisons in your food, water, personal care products, air, etc. have broken the normal functioning of your brain. Please have another glass of fluoridated water, consume some nutritionally void poison that you call food, and turn on the television for your daily mind control programming. What many don't seem to understand or care about is that they are killing animals, harming children, damaging the environment, and harming themselves as well. Now for those that are not part of the Walking Dead masses:
Be kind to animals, each other, and yourself. It matters. You may want to use your mind, open your heart, and nourish your soul, else you may not like how your story ends ... . PS – The cigarette companies told us that smoking was not in any way linked to cancer or other health issues ... they told the truth, didn't they? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." References: ¹Kawahara, M., & Kato-Negishi, M. (2011).
